It has been said that "time fl ies by when you've having fun". This is certainly true of the two years that I have spent at HKU SPACE Community College. I made many new friends here. It was not only the students here that make learning interesting. Without doubt we must acknowledge the teachers here, whose mastery of the subjects is matched by their passion for their work. Their friendliness fosters communication with students, and it is this approachability of the teaching staff that is a trademark of the HKU SPACE experience for any student.

All of my friends who studied in College tended to be more outstanding in their studies than my friends who studied in other institutions. I was directly admitted to Year 2 in the College and was offered a second year place at CUHK. This route allows me to obtain a degree in 3 years!

When I try to design a TV commercial or a magazine cover, I begin to realise how much skill is involved, both in using the tools and also in conveying a socio-cultural message to a target niche. "Media and Cultural Studies" equips me with all the necessary skills in understanding and creating the message and with the necessary academic background for further studies.

Soon after losing in the JUPAS entrance game, I was lucky to gain entry to the HKU SPACE Community College. To me, a full year in the College is certainly not a waste of time. Frankly, you wouldn't skip a single class when every lecture is enjoyable and refreshing. While there I also met a new group of friends with aspirations similar to mine. Together we worked to gain the opportunity of a university education.

I studied the Associate of Arts Programme at the College last year. I am now studying for a Bachelor of Arts Degree at HKU. I really enjoyed studying English at the College. The English lecturers are very nice and teach well. We also participated in a variety of extra-curricular activities. I especially enjoyed Professor Chan's prose reading sessions. The subjects I learned in the College were useful. The knowledge I gained will help me to do well in my present studies. Last but not least, the College has given me a lot of chances to learn more successfully. After one year there I received 6 offers from different universities. Some universities even offered me the chance to join the second-year programme.

I graduated from the AD programme last year and am now studying in the second year of the Bachelor of Arts course in the University of Hong Kong. I truly enjoyed the two years I spent studying the AD programme. The active and interesting way of learning and the interaction among the students and teachers helped me develop good communication skills that I am sure are essential to further studies. As a student specialising in "the English stream" I had the opportunity to be introduced to courses that were new, interesting and challenging to me - courses like "Literature in English", "Linguistics", "Stylistics" and "Business Communication in English".
I am glad that I had the opportunity to study the College's English programme since this has enabled me not only to use English more effectively as an intellectual tool for learning, but has also allowed me to acquire knowledge about the language and its use in literary works. I was encouraged to read a great many novels and short stories in English in addition to the required texts. This has not only improved my English but has also given me a great deal of pleasure.
