Recalling the experience of failure in the Hong Kong Advanced Level examination, I realise that working hard without giving up certainly paves the way to success. For me, HKU SPACE Community College served as an important bridge to obtain my Bachelor degree.
After graduating from M.Sc.(Urban Planning) at HKU in 2006, I have been working for a bus company to manage and plan the daily bus operations. It is my honour as the Winner of "Outstanding Employee Award 2006 (Office Grade)" in the compay and Winner of Silver Award of "Outstanding Employee Grand Award 2006 (Office Staff Category)" in the company. In April of 2009, I was further promoted as the Senior Operations Officer, managing the daily operations of the entire NWFB network.
It was a turning point in my life when I was fortunate enough to be admitted to HKU SPACE Community College. I have gained tremendously from the College's distinctive teaching mode of interactive learning and broad-based knowledge curriculum.
Initially, I decided to pursue my studies in the College as I was attracted by its reputation and the number of its students entering universities. During the two years of College life, I learnt a lot. First, the diversified courses offered by the College not only enriched my knowledge and enhanced my analytical abilities, but also broadened my perspective. More importantly, I could acquire the things that were unattainable in books, such as attitudes towards people and presentation skills. This greatly increased my self-confidence, which is an essential element for my current studies and for my future career. The high quality education provided by the College, helped me open a new page in my life.
除了課堂上的學習，我們有機會到相關機構和企業進行參觀，親身了解運作情況。通用技能科目，例如中、英語文、普通話、資訊科技等，提升了我的語言及人際溝通能力，有助我應付日常的工作。
這裡的學習模式跟中學的不一樣，學院不主張『死讀書』或閉門造車。在港大附屬學院的兩年裡，我得到的比我想像中的多，除了獲大學取錄外，我比從前更了解自己，並訂下發展目標。在港大附屬學院學習，只要肯努力、肯付出，是一定會有回報的！
當年會考只取得12分，未能升讀中六課程，以為無緣升大學。後來報讀了港大附屬學院的副學士先修課程，多元化的課程讓我找到自己的興趣。非常感謝老師悉心的栽培及引導，助我找到自己的方向。此外，透過小組討論及匯報的學習模式，我可學習到別人的長處。總括而言，只要肯努力，便會有成果。
雖然，當年會考成績未如理想，但我沒有考慮重讀，參加了學院的課程講座後，我決定報讀學院的副學士先修課程。三年的學習，不但豐富了我的知識領域，更提升了個人的分析能力，這對我在大學的學習甚有幫助。
When I studied the Pre-AD Programme, I could take some interesting courses, which are not included in the syllabi of traditional secondary schools, for example Culture, Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences. These courses have broadened my horizons. Here I would like to express my whole-hearted gratitude to my teachers, as they led me to find my way.
As I look back on my sweet and memorable days at HKU SPACE Community College, I find that I have gained more than knowledge. I have gained a new perspective on life and see the World in a different light. If you were to ask me again to choose a Pre-Associate Degree Programme, HKU SPACE Community College would still be my only choice for a bright and promising future.
I had a happy life in the College where I acquired a wide variety of knowledge and enjoyed my time in extra-curricular activities. I also developed loving and caring relationship with my teachers and friends.
The College has adopted an approach of diversified teaching and ilingual education that has laid down a solid foundation in languages for my success in university education.
