Major world and regional events have combined to create the opportune moment for Hong Kong to promote its prosperity and facilitate the economic partnership with Mainland China. China's accession to the WTO, the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2010 Shanghai World Exhibition and the Pearl River Delta Economic Development will benefit many industries in Hong Kong, in particular the service industries, including marketing and advertising.
This programme is specially designed to provide Secondary 5 to Secondary 7 graduates with a vocation-oriented, broad-based introduction to sales, marketing and advertising. The programme integrates the many disciplines present in the marketing industry and aims to provide all aspiring marketing professionals, irrespective of their future career specialism, with multiskilled practical and academic knowledge to keep pace with the rapid growth and changes in the modern market.
Practical job placement will form an important part of the training. Arrangements will be made for selected students to work as summer trainees in the marketing and sales industries to acquire valuable practical experience. This will prepare them for the future career.
Higher Diploma holders in Business (Sales, Marketing and Advertising) are eligible to apply for exemptions from Stage One of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) examinations.
Graduates are eligible for admission to the full-time top-up degree programmes offered locally by HKU SPACE Centre for International Degree Programmes in collaboration with the following universities:
Graduates can also proceed to part-time Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing & Advertising) / (Marketing) programmes offered locally by HKU SPACE in collaboration with Curtin University of Technology, Australia (CRICOS code 00301J).
This programme has evolved to meet the needs of students who wish to pursue a career in the marketing and advertising industry. This could be as a marketing manager for a marketing company,as a sales manager, as an advertising agent/manager or as a product development consultant. There are further opportunities within the corporate sector as marketing specialists within public affairs, marketing and sales divisions.
