With the government's recognition of financial services as one of the four pillars of the economy, the role of financial services as one of the engines of growth has assumed greater significance. The financial services industry has been greatly affected by the impact of globalisation and advancement in technology. Following the closer economic integration between the China Mainland and Hong Kong and the emergence of various new financial products and services, the demand and career opportunities for financial services professionals are tremendous in the rapidly changing financial markets.
This programme aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge in economics and finance as well as a broad-based education in financial services. It also helps to prepare students for the Hong Kong Securities Institute licensing examinations and the professional examinations in financial planning in Hong Kong. The programme emphasizes the practical applications of financial knowledge in financial management and investment analysis.
Practical job placement is an important part of the training. Students are selected to work as summer trainees in financial services institutions.
Higher Diploma holders in Business (Financial Services) are eligible to apply for exemptions from the Chartered Financial Practitioner examinations.
