During the two-year studies in the Higher Diploma Programme in Dental Hygiene, I have learned the valuable clinical skills that enable me to work as a dental hygienist independently. Also, the unique problem-based learning method has given me a platform to develop my critical thinking and analytical skills. This course also equips me very well for my daily work as a dental hygienist to cope with different patients who have different oral health problems.
Other than getting the fi rst hand professional knowledge in dentistry, I found my 2 years of study in the Higher Diploma in Dental Hygiene very enjoyable. Studying this course has helped me to build a concrete foundation with a clear concept of dental hygiene. Through the continuous problem-based case studies, I have strengthened my practical and interpersonal skills which are useful for my career. I believe the knowledge and simulated working experience acquired in this course can help me become a professional contributing to the community.
My dental hygiene training was very interesting and practical. The PBL mode of study enabled me to define my role in dentistry. Clinical sessions helped me to think critically, be mature and act independently. As well as specialism subjects, we also learnt generic skills, which are useful in daily life. As a Dental Hygienist, I now look after patients, who have oral health problems.
