Over the years, industrial systems, manufacturing and information processing have evolved
at a dazzling speed, and have permeated every aspect of life and society. The next
evolution will see further sub-division and specialization, such as engineering technologies,
sales engineering, environmental technologies, aircraft maintenance, civil and construction
engineering and traffic engineering. Thus, engineering is an essential sector and profession
in any parts of the world.

Programme Aims & Features

This programme aims to provide good foundation concepts in electrical, electronic, mechanical and computer engineering and prepares students to acquire specialized knowledge and skills in the engineering field by offering six streams of studies:
• Engineering Technologies
• Marketing and Management
• Environmental Technologies
• Aircraft Maintenance
• Civil and Construction Engineering
• Traffic Engineering

Job Placement

In the course of the programme students will have opportunities to undertake job placements at local engineering companies. Through this practical training, students will gain first-hand knowledge of the industry and develop the skills and experience required in the workplace.

Opportunities for Further Studies

High caliber students can further their undergraduate studies in Engineering at local or overseas universities after successfully completing the first-year study of the Higher Diploma programme.

In 2008-09, around 15% of our Year One students with excellent academic performance, who were admitted to local UGC-funded degree programmes. In addition, 20% of our graduates successfully gained admission to UGC-funded engineering degree programmes at local universities, including The University of Hong Kong (e.g., Bachelor of Engineering), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (e.g., Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (e.g., BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (e.g., BSc (Hons) in Transportation Systems Engineering).

Career Prospects

Graduates will be able to pursue a career in engineering disciplines, especially in the fields of Marketing Engineering, Environmental Technologies, Aircraft Maintenance, Civil and Construction Engineering and Traffic Engineering, in such posts as,

  • eToy Designer
  • Industrial Process Assistant Engineer
  • Electric Appliances Assistant Engineer
  • Quality Control Assistant Engineer
  • Assistant System Engineer
  • Marketing Engineer
  • Aircraft Engineer
  • Graduate Engineer or Assistant Engineer - Civil and Construction
  • Assistant Traffic Engineer
