Information Technology (IT) is playing a significant role in supporting modern society. Of all the IT disciplines, Web and Multimedia Development, Networking, Wireless and Mobile Technologies and Information Security and Ethical Hacking have flourished, even during lean times.

Programme Aims & Features

The programme aims to train students to become fully-fledged professionals in the field of Information Technology. In view of both the practical and professional needs of IT application, the programme offers four streams of study which are in popular demand: "Web and Multimedia Development", "Networking" and "Information Security and Ethical Hacking".

Job Placement

Students will have valuable opportunities to undertake job placements in local IT companies. Through this practical training, students will gain first-hand knowledge of the industry and develop the skills and experience required in the workplace.

In 2009, around 60% of our graduates have successfully gained admission to local degree programmes and 61% among them were UGC-funded programmes, including:

Graduates are also eligible for admission to the full-time top-up degree programme offered locally by HKU SPACE Centre for International Degree Programmes in collaboration with overseas renowned universities:
• BSc (Hons) in Computer Networks offered by the Middlesex University, UK,
• BSc in Computing and Information Systems offered by the University of London Goldsmiths College, UK.

A credits exemption scheme is also available from the following overseas universities:

Career Prospects

Graduates will be able to pursue a broad range of positions in the IT industry, including system analysts, web/multimedia designers, network engineers, and security auditors.

Professional Recognition

The programme is accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), a recognized professional body. Upon graduation, students can apply for an associate member. An associate membership is a steppingstone towards registration as a chartered engineer.
