  • Final year student of Higher Diploma in Corporate Communications and Management, 2010
  • Summer intern (2010), Marketing Communications Department, HARBOUR GRAND KOWLOON HOTEL

During the past two years of my studies, I had chances to explore my interests and develop my potential. My creativity and language capabilities have also been improved. The HDCCM programme is comprehensive that it provides courses like corporate communication and marketing. It intrigues me so much that I would like to engage in PR or marketing in the future.

This coming summer, I shall be attending the internship programme in the marketing communications department of Harbour Grand Kowloon Hotel. It is my aspiration to gain deeper insight into the hotel industry and apply what I have learnt from the programme specifically to real business environments.

HKU SPACE Community College has provided me the opportunity to learn more about the media industries and the fields of corporate communications and management. I find the courses of the HDCCM programme very useful and have learnt a variety of knowledge about media businesses, including how to communicate strategically with stakeholders in different contexts. During the two years of my study, I could practise what I have learnt in my part-time jobs in PR and media companies. Most importantly, the programme has widened my horizons as well as expanded my social network and I am proud that I am a HDCCM student.

  • Student of HKU English Studies and Linguistics Major (Year 3) in 2008-09

I benefited greatly from my one-year experience doing the HDCCM programme, after which I was admitted to the HKU to pursue my undergraduate studies in the BA programme. The English language courses in the HDCCM programme gave me a practical learning perspective which prepared me for the challenges of problem-based learning in university. The HDCCM programme also equipped me with the skills in peer collaboration and research working. These all help me adapt to university life.

The programme Corporate Communications and Management has given me a colourful learning experience both through lectures and internships in PR firms. Lecturers apply up-to-date examples from their real-life practice to the theories and always encourage students to participate in discussion. The courses have successfully raised my competitiveness in this field of study.

I find the studies in Corporate Communications and Management very interesting and practical. Take the case of Journalism, we have the chance of outside practice and interviewing. I used to know nothing about journalism but now I can write a complete press release easily.

Our lecturers also invite different guest speakers from the public relations & corporate communications fields to share their experiences with us. My understanding of the area and my confidence are greatly increased through this exposure.
