
The HKSAR Government has identified trade and product services as one of the four pillar industries supporting Hong Kong's economy. There is an increasing demand for manpower in trade services including business services, marketing, product promotion, trade fairs and exhibitions, etc., and this demand has created a corresponding increase in training and education programmes geared towards the development of human resources in this area.
This programme is specially designed to provide Secondary 5 to Secondary 7 graduates with a vocation-oriented, broad-based introduction to marketing and business management. The aim is to provide students with the practical knowledge and understanding of key marketing concepts, management theories and skills which they can apply in the workplace.
Practical job placement will form an important part of the training. Arrangements will be made for selected students to work as summer trainees in the marketing and sales industries to acquire valuable practical experience. This will prepare them for their future career.
Higher Diploma holders in Business (Marketing and Management) are eligible to apply for exemptions from Stage One of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) examinations.
Graduates are eligible for admission to the full-time top-up degree programmes offered locally by HKU SPACE Centre for International Degree Programmes in collaboration with the following universities:
Graduates can also proceed to part-time Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing & Advertising) / (Marketing) programmes offered locally by HKU SPACE in collaboration with Curtin University of Technology, Australia (CRICOS code 00301J).
This programme will prepare students for a career in marketing, management, administration or public relations in the private or public sectors. This could be as a marketing manager for a marketing company, as a public relations manager or as a customer service manager. There are further opportunities for graduates within the corporate sector as marketing & management specialists within public affairs, business divisions, small businesses, manufacturing companies, and product development divisions.
