The Trading of Chinese Medicines has become internationalized and well developed upon the implementation of CEPA, the PRC becomes a member of the WTC, the issuing of licenses to traders of Chinese Medicine, and the registration of Chinese medical practitioners. People from all walks of life, such as the Department of Health, Chinese Medicines practitioners and users pay much more attention to ingredients and safety of Chinese Medicines or nutraceutical. This Higher Diploma programme is designed in response to the increasing demand for professionals in Chinese Medicine / Chinese Medicine Pharmaceutics. The programme provides diversified training to students.

This 2-year programme aims to provide post-secondary students with systematic and formal professional education in Chinese pharmaceutical and related businesses.

Graduates are eligible to apply for entry to

• the third year of the Bachelor of Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine Degree Programme, which is a four-and-a-half-year part-time degree programme offered by the School of Chinese Medicine of HKU and HKU SPACE;
• the second year of the four-year full-time programme of BSc (Hons) Traditional Chinese Medicine or the third year of the three-year full-time BSc (Hons) Complementary Health Sciences offered by Middlesex University (UK);
• Degree programme offered by Guang Dong Pharmaceutical University
• the Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Degree Programme offered by the Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine;

Graduates may also choose to join the job market right after completing the programme. There are employment opportunities in health related industries such as Assistant Technicians in the area of Chinese Pharmaceutical Research, Associate Pharmaceutical Technicians in Chinese Medicine factories, Dispensers of Chinese Medicine Pharmacies, Practitioner of Health Insurance, as well as Marketer for Chinese Medicines health products.

In addition to the minimum entrance requirements, you are also required to have studied Chemistry in secondary school.

Note: As some modules will be taught in Putonghua, modules for enhancing students' Putonghua skills will be provided.
