The Pre-Associate Degree Programme is a one-year programme offered by HKU SPACE Community College for Form 5 graduates to broaden your horizons and prepare you to excel academically. It is a well-established alternative to the traditional matriculation course.

Programme Aims & Features

Students can choose from many broad-based courses, covering a variety of domains such as Arts and Humanities, Culture and
Media, Social Sciences, Philosophy, as well as Science and Technology. Generic courses are also available to train students’ language, numerical and computer skills.

English is used as the main teaching language to prepare students for further studies in Hong Kong and overseas.

Unlike the traditional HKCEE curriculum, your overall learning outcomes will not be determined by a final examination. Rather, you will be evaluated continuously throughout the academic year. Our Pre-AD students have benefited from the continuous assessments and the reduction of examination pressure, and many have matured into confident and self-motivated learners who strive to actualize their goals

Opportunities for Further Study

Upon successful completion of the Pre-Associate Degree programme, students will be eligible to progress to:

  • One of the Associate Degree programmes, which include:
    - Associate of Arts
    - Associate of Business Administration
    - Associate of Arts in Legal Studies
    - Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology
    - Associate of Applied Science in Practical Chinese Medicine
    - Associate of Social Sciences
    or selected Higher Diploma programmes offered by the College, thereafter continuing to study in a Bachelor’s Degree programme at a local or overseas university.
    Note: Graduates of Pre-Associate Degree programme are not eligible to progress to Associate of Applied Science in Physical Science programme or Associate of Applied Science in Life Science programme.

  • First-year studies of a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree programme at a university overseas.

Our statistics show that a significant proportion of our Associate Degree students have been admitted by local and overseas universities after their first or second year of studies. Our Associate Degree and Higher Diploma will prepare you well for a smooth transition to further studies in fine universities in the world, e.g., the University of Hong Kong.
