跨學科的多元化學習,幫我奪取英國大學的獎學金!
傳統的考試制度不適合我,令我所以選讀擇港大附屬學院的文學副學士。這裡多元化的學習模式,讓我發揮多面潛能;例如我主修媒體及文化研究,同時又可選修文學課程的院其他八個主題學科。我的視野廣闊了,也學會了多角度思考,或許這些原因,令我拿到英國大學的獎學金吧!

Disheartened by the HKCEE results, I was encouraged by my family to join the Community College’s Pre-Associate Degree Programme. Facing a flexible school life and totally new learning experience, I found everything exotic yet challenging. Unlike the traditional matriculation curriculum, the Programme offers courses from a wide variety of disciplines. As a student who has dreamt of being a scientist, I chose to concentrate on Science and Technology, while broadening my horizons from courses in other disciplines, such as Arts and Humanities, and Culture and Media. Later, I found the broad-based knowledge gained from these courses were beneficial for my further studies and also for my career. The Pre-Associate Degree Programme not only equipped me with independent and critical thinking, but also the basics of presentation and communication skills. Gradually, I regained my confidence under this unique learning mode in which where students are evaluated by continuous assessments. To sum up my thoughts throughout these years of study, one should learn to know his own strengths and potentials so as to head towards the right direction for a fulfilling future. As there are different stages in our life, keep exploring!

成為一位優秀的小學老師是我從小的志願,回想二零零三年中五會考放榜,自己的成績未如理想,不能順利原校升讀預科課程。一位老師向我推薦香港大學附屬學院開辦的副學士先修課程,還記得她這樣說:「不用灰心,條條大路通羅馬。」

於HKU SPACE 修讀副學士課程期間,我能夠涉獵多元學科,有充足機會體驗大學模式的學習生活,通過小組的合作探究與研習、積極參與學院舉辦的課外活動,大大增強了自己的領導能力、人際溝通技巧,對日後升讀學士課程,起了重要幫助。

受到HKU SPACE各位良師的悉心教導與熏陶,我順利地完成副學士先修課程與文學副學士一年級,於二零零五年獲得香港教育學院取錄,修讀小學教育榮譽學士課程。

由於副學士課程模式與大學的課程設計相似,升讀教院後,很快便能適應新的學習環境,屢次榮獲香港教育學院頒發獎項與獎學金,為委身教育專業作最佳準備,並實現了當教師的夢想!

雖然我們沒有辦法改變過去,但是我們有能力改變將來,從今天開始,努力為未來作好準備!

There are always challenges in my life. It was a great milestone when I determined the brave step to study the Pre-Associate Degree programme. Within the year in HKU SPACE CC, I was given opportunities to strengthen my confidence and more importantly, to redefine my interest and career. Academic awards and honours have evidenced the right choice I made. Supported with my family and college lecturers, everything changes thereafter. I have involved in various media production of my university, participated in some international forum and joined an exchange programme at CityU. My study path goes smoothly and enthusiastically from a Pre-AD student to a university graduate.

In these years, I witnessed my whole-person development. I received comments and overcame challenges. When it is time to get into another environment, I always remind myself that - opportunity is always there.

當年會考只取得12分,未能升讀中六課程,以為無緣升大學。後來報讀了港大附屬學院的副學士先修課程,多元化的課程讓我找到自己的興趣。非常感謝老師悉心的栽培及引導,助我找到自己的方向。此外,透過小組討論及匯報的學習模式,我可學習到別人的長處。總括而言,只要肯努力,便會有成果。
